Opening Ceremony
ceremonial opening and flying flags

"Because of the renovations at Fő tér, the official opening ceremony was relocated to the Iseum, where it was only the Irish and Hungarian flags (in the absence of the wind we barely could call the event as flying the flags), the huge chairs in front of the Gallery of Szombathely and the play of the Brass Band, which signaled that in the neighborhood of the ruinous shrine people "blooming" are again gathering. During the heat at noon, the audience - mostly representatives of the press and a few Joyce-fanatics - noted with satisfaction that protective drinks are available in the best quality, in the form of Guinness. After the Irish ambassador Brandan McMahon's and mayor György Ipkovich's words praising Leopold Bloom, the event and the city, members of the Joyce Society did the stamping at this location. Afterwards, the ambassador and the mayor visited the Joyce statue at Fő tér 40-41, and payed a tribute to the famous writer." (Nyugat.hu)

"Finally, a bigger group arrives, most probably hardcore participants of the Bloomsday, who also took part in the previous program at 11.30. This way, in the presence of ca. 50 people, organizers are reflecting on the 12-year-old history of Bloomsday and express their hope that the tradition will continue, on the bases they laid down. In his short speech, Irish ambassador Brendan McMahon calls our attention to the historic surroundings and shares the info that June 17 – the day following Bloomsday – is also important for him as it is his birthday. György Ipkovich emphasizes that even though the city is in the phase of transformation and change, it continues to welcome fans of Joyce." (Alon.hu

Ulixes
concert – intrapersonal opera

"Ulixes elaborates on the possible roles of lived time within a person, on the language of music and image. Opera of the consciousness, in which opera implies one genre, encompassing all artistic genres. Question: Are you inside Time? Or do you exist outside of it?"

Writer and director: Ágens, designer artist, films: József Tasnádi, song: Ágens and the Saint Ephraim Male Choir, musicians: Ádám  Jávorka (viola), Kornél Mogyoró (percussion), dancer: Móni Négyesi, cameraman: Zsolt Bredár, interlocutor: Ágnes Ivacs, choreographer and ligthing: Krisztián Gergye, costume designer: Móni Béres, mask: Balázs Károlyi, sound: Ferenc Boudny, light: Totó

"Every part of the stage (and even the auditorium and café) represents different time dimensions, through which Ágens - in contrast to the other characters that are determined and bound to a certain age - freely moves; she has a way through them. Alike to this, her voice also passes through various tones, pitches, inarticulate rattles and impressive melodies. She is the absolute protagonist - compared to others - outside of time."
