Gábor Tóth: Retrotóth
exhibition

"I belong to the generation that was significantly or completely excluded from the cultural and artistic scene of the 1960s and 1970s, but at the same time – partly as a consequence of this – it also found a connection with the current European neoavantgarde, as well as other – elsewhere already developed – trends and their representatives. At home, I could only be part of the tolerated (avantgarde) or forbidden (alternative) events, whereas around the world I participated in countless exhibitions and events, and my name has now appeared in important international books and catalogs dealing with visual poetry, performance, mail-art, experimental film, or contemporary, experimental music. In the 70s László Beke wrote about me that I would be Duchamp's best student in Hungary. I hope that the exhibition will convince the visitors that I have managed to master to be Gábor Tóth."
